During the first quarter of this year, we were referred by one of our suppliers, to tender for a mezzanine project based in Watford, Greater London. Once we had made contact with the client, we were invited to site to check some measurements and to also meet the quantity surveyor and project manager for the project. The client was a major construction company based in London who cover large nationwide projects. We were awarded with the contract shortly after we had conducted the site visit.
After we were awarded the project, we began to design the mezzanine, conduct risk assessments, create Gantt charts and create other essential documents for the installation. One of the challenges we faced with this project is that the mezzanine was located on the second floor of a busy shopping centre. Therefore, from the beginning, we identified that access to the mezzanine was going to be somewhat tricky. As a result, we were restricted with the plant equipment we could use for the project. However, we adapted and used the service lifts and trollies to transport materials. During the installation of the mezzanine, we used scaffolding towers and other light equipment. As the mezzanine was only part of the fit-out project, during the creation of the Gantt chart we understood that we would have to coordinate with the different trades to ensure our mezzanine installation for delivered smoothly and on time.
Once the mezzanine had been fabricated and delivered to site. We began the installation progress. During the installation process, we organised for our health and safety consultant to visit, Malcolm. He was very happy with our health and safety standards and gave us some positive feedback. To our delight, the project ran smoothly, to a high quality and even ahead of schedule!
